Here's a little something I've been thinking about lately:
"Oh, look - it's perfect! Stop the car, I want to see!"
He sighed and obliged, half laughing and half groaning at the colossal wreck in front of them. "Sweetie, that is the worst fixer-upper I've ever seen."
She looked at him with pleading eyes. "Dear...it's the most perfect little house I've ever seen. It's stone - and look at all those little windows! The red door, the arches...it looks like a miniature castle!"
He parked the car and they walked, hand in hand, up to the little red door. She glanced around to see if anyone would tell them off for intruding, but the place appeared to be abandoned.
She knocked on the door, the light tap, tap sending hollow whispers throughout the house. No one answered and, after a firmer knock, knock that sent dust flying everywhere, they turned the knob and, to their surprise, the door opened. They stepped in side, leaving the door open, of course, because they knew it was would be a very silly thing to shut themselves up in an abandoned house.
"This place has known magic," she whispered.
So...what happens next? Does the princess get the little castle?
ReplyDeleteI like this. :)
Thanks, Marissa. :) Well...I think the whole point of this story is that while you must grow up, you still need that sense of childlike wonder. So I don't know where it goes from here...maybe I'll work on it some more today...:)
