Farewell, ScriptFrenzy, Hello Camp NaNo

Last week I got an e-mail saying that although NaNoWriMo's sister site, ScriptFrenzy has been a good experience, they're pulling the program because of a lack of funding.

I feel bad that I was never able to contribute, and I'm heartbroken that we won't have that wonderful April madness anymore.

NaNoWriMo is going back to what it does best -- noveling.  They've started a Young Writer's Program (free packets to teachers across the nation plus other helps, it's absolutely fantastic) and have begun two Camp NaNoWriMo's in the summer (June and August).

I feel like they will be able to concentrate on one thing now, streamlining their process.  While I'll miss ScriptFrenzy, I see why they're doing it.

(And they're also working on archiving all the old ScriptFrenzy stuff on the NaNoWriMo site so in case we need resources or want to look something up, we can go do that)

That being said -- I wasn't going to do Camp NaNoWriMo this year because I felt like I'd have to add it to my list and do three things a year (which wouldn't be bad, but a lot of work), every year -- that's just the way my brain works.  But now that they've cancelled ScriptFrenzy (and I'm actually working on some projects at the moment), I feel like maybe, just maybe I should do Camp NaNo in August.

I know -- I'd be doing all three this year.

BUT now I can choose June or August and do two NaNos a year and that will only put me further along the road to actually writing well and closer to producing a manuscript.

Now I have to go figure out what I'm going to work on and get to researching, plotting, outlining, flash-carding and collaging.

WOOHOO!

(Like I needed another excuse to write...!)
