I was finally able to visit Hobby Lobby this weekend and while most of our larger purchases were for the apartment (art to hang) and a gift for Stu (an Enterprise kit!), I came home with stuff to make wands, a Kindle cover, coasters, and more. I also got some ideas (never a good thing!).
So I of course went into a crafting frenzy (much like a shark's feeding frenzy) and crocheted my fingers off the rest of the weekend -- I made a fuzzy cover for my flip-flops (the rubber blisters my toes), slippers (decorated with flowers) and an ear warmer (too big so I have to pull it out and use it for something else...).
I made the coasters but have to re-do one (thankfully I bought extra paper) and then I spent an hour or two collaging in my Secrets Journal (which was extremely relaxing).
One of the best nights I've had this week was crocheting my slippers while I watched Agatha Christie's MARPLE mini-series (4 seasons from 2004-2008, 4 episodes per season from BBC) on Netflix while I did my coasters in spurts (you have to modge podge, let dry, repeat twice and then spray with acrylic sealer). Minus the coasters, I'm quite happy with my little crafty projects...and I'm eagerly awaiting the day when I can sit down and make some wands! (I even bought red "phoenix feathers" to put inside...go ahead, roll your eyes!)
I am still eying my painting...it needs to be done. I just need to find the perfect quote and do some touch ups. Then I can move on because I have so many ideas and even some requests from friends (one is doing an alphabet book with an Under The Sea theme and I promised her a sea turtle. Good gracious, can I even do that?! We'll see!).
I've also got some embroidery projects brewing and even some drawings!! (Just drew Ginny Weasley and Draco Malfoy the other day but Draco didn't turn out right AT ALL. Ginny turned out great) Most of these revolve around book characters (even the embroidery) but I'll do some original stuff soon -- maybe some fairies or runway models. :P
I'm looking forward to vacation time (end of July) because we don't have money to go anywhere but that means I can stay home and CRAFT for a week. I can work on writing, take some pictures, anything I want -- all day! (And yes, there will probably be cleaning involved but at least the majority of vacation time will be spent pursuing something artistic)
Pictures coming soon -- I've got some of my sewing, embroidery and crochet projects. Woohoo!
What are you crafting these days, or what do you want to start crafting?
