FINALLY.
Sometimes I think so long and hard about something that I am almost to the point of letting it go when
BAM
inspiration hits.
-----------------------------
One of my husband's friends had asked me to do some illustration work for a book she's doing -- an under-the-sea alphabet book. I thought, "Sure, I could do some digital art and that would be some good experience." Well, I tried.
I sketched on paper.
I doodled on our tablet.
I considered painting.
Collage.
Anything and everything under the sun (or so I thought).
But nothing felt right.
Lately, I've been doing some embroidery work -- I did a Harry Potter fan art piece and I'm combing the web looking for the perfect Ron and Hermione art work to use to complete the set. (And of course I'd love to do a Snape, a Luna, a Neville, and Fred & George)
So...while I kept thinking about doing under-the-sea themed art, it popped into my head that I could do EMBROIDERY.
I saw a fairytale book once where the illustrations were pictures of embroidery/quilting panels someone had made -- it was just gorgeous.
And embroidery is easier than drawing from scratch -- especially when I haven't done sea creatures ever.
So I quickly found three pictures I liked, enlarged them and turned them gray and printed them out.
Now I have to go through my stash of fabric and threads at home and GET TO WORK!!!
YAAAAY!!!
Now I can finally stop feeling bad for not getting in touch with her! And I can start work on some pretty embroidery!!
Thank goodness for Pinterest, because I was combing through the crochet/embroidery boards for the last two days so I'm sure that had something to do with my inspiration.
Whew.
