I've been talking a lot about doing things I want to do, but I haven't always been doing the things I want to do - housecleaning, work, and general laziness have often gotten in the way as of late.
So, being tired of hearing myself talk about things instead of doing, I found some local theatres and looked up audition schedules, which is at the same time both exciting [I've been in love with theatre since I was a baby] and terrifying [my last theatre experience was about 3 years ago].
Some of the theatres here are a LEETLE questionable but I found a theatre in Lexington that has put on some of my favorite plays - they're doing The Sound of Music in March! I looked at their audition page and GUESS WHAT THEY ARE CASTING FOR IN 3 WEEKS??!?!?!
THE LION, THE WITCH, & THE WARDROBE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, guess who e-mailed them to ask specific questions about the audition?
Yes, Yes I did.
So now I should probably go memorize a monologue and work on my stage presence. I figure I can audition and if it doesn't end up with me being cast in the lead role [the White Witch, anyone?!] I can use it as experience and audition around town. I have mostly free nights and hopefully, if I get cast somewhere, someone will give me a ride. One can hope. We'll think of logistics once I get cast!
So, pray for me. I feel a little like this is taking a bull by the horns - I've got work, class, writing, and a house to clean, I don't need something else taking up my time, right?!
Well...it never hurts to try something and see where it goes. And I've had the theatre itch for quite a while now. It's at least worth a shot.
Wish me luck.
