I am extremely ill. We think it's strep. Joy. My fever was up over 102 the first night, over 100 yesterday, and is now gone thanks to extra strength tylenol. I have now lost my voice thanks to extremely swollen tonsils and my back aches so bad that I haven't slept for 3 nights. I'm exhausted.
ANYWAY,
Since Stu is done with Intensive Romans, and I am sick, we have been watching a LOT of movies, some of which we picked up at Manifest before I became deathly ill - Mission Impossible, The Swan Princess, X-Files: I Want To Believe [the 2nd movie], some baseball movie Stu has been trying to find forever, and Labyrinth, which I had never seen [I also want to find Dark Crystal but no luck this time].
A line in the movie [which I liked, by the way] had me rooting for something to happen - which never materialized! Since my voice was gone, I scribbled down what I thought should have happened and gave it to Stu to read. "That would have been much better, actually," said Stuart. I don't know if it would have been better, but it was what I was expecting, and was disappointed that it had not happened. Here is what I think SHOULD have been the ending of Labyrinth [minor spoilers [?], I guess]:
The line that got me going was when The Goblin King says to Hoggle, "If she kisses you, I'll have to turn you into a prince...the prince of everlasting stink!" or some such silly line, referring to the smelly bog. HOWEVER the first part of the line had me thinking that Hoggle was a prince in disguise, cursed because of his cowardice, who would only become a prince again if he showed bravery/courage etc., which helped him win a kiss. I then thought that since Sarah's stepmother had said "You should have dates at your age," that Hoggle [as a prince] would be the perfect date - what a romantic ending! HA too bad it just got weird. In a good way, but I was disappointed.
What are your thoughts? Do you like my ending? Do you like the original ending?
Other tidbits:
If anyone has the first Harry Potter book, I would LOVE to borrow it. We have multiple copies of every other book but no copies of the first one. :(
I've been writing poetry the last few weeks, and am thinking about publishing on Lulu.com - go check it out, maybe you want to publish something! You can get your own ISBN # and they will sell it on Amazon for you! [most of them for free]
I'm still watching Ugly Betty - I'm on episode 7. It is amazing what this show deals with, and how popular it has become; there are several countries who have their own versions!
See you when I get well again...which will hopefully be soon!
I need to see Labyrinth.
