Spring is in the air...and I am a flower...with nothing...interesting...to say

The above quote is from A Bug's Life. :)

I've been feeling quite down lately - probably because my immune system is at full blast trying to run every germ out of town. It's succeeding so far. Hope it lasts!

Stu is very sick - I didn't go to class this morning b/c his ears are full of fluid and it's making him dizzy. His face hurts and he couldn't even function until 12 today. Poor Stu! :( Here's hoping he's better soon - we've been drinking orange juice and eating chicken noodle soup (homemade-ish!) so...maybe he'll be better next week.

I received a package today from a new friend! I am friends with a lady named Karen, and we met on the dollhouse forum I joined. We're building the same house right now (she's wiring hers, and I'm not) so we're trading information and tips back and forth and discussing other things like spice gardens and weather and cats and...it's pretty fun! Anyway, we were talking about how I wanted a stone house with white grout and I didn't know if I should put the spackling down first or the stone, so she said the stone first and then to squeeze the spackling through an icing tip. She said she'd send me some and they got here today, along with: a broom, 2 bottles of wine, 3 little vases, 2 perfume bottles, and a plaque. They are so cute!!! I can't wait to put them in my dollhouse.

I spackled two walls in one of the extra rooms - it turned out better than I thought it would. I got the hang of spackling after trying for 20 minutes to get it smooth (no way) like a drywall, and although I have to go back and spackle in a few places, it looks pretty good for a first attempt. That room is going to be adorable. I've also put the back roof (mostly open) on, not glued but fitted, and I'm trying out the dividers to see what size rooms I want. I'm also trying to decide on what I want for stairs. The stepladder thing provided in the dollhouse kit just isn't working for me. I'm thinking maybe a spiral staircase or simple elevator.

Question: in a witch's house, what kind of staircase would be used? Ordinary or fanciful? I was thinking of putting a Chimney up and using Floo powder but that's silly to just use that to go up a floor...she could just Apparate. So really, there could be no stairs. Or I could use a rope ladder. Or...I don't know. I like the idea of a spiral staircase but I don't know how to design it or what to make it out of.

Anyway, dollhouse building is a lot of fun. I will definitely be building more! I'd like to make one for Stu's mom, just a simple little farm cottage, and maybe a room box for my mom, and I'd love to help Ruth renovate hers, if she can get it from her mom. I might also do a simple one-room cottage for my sister. We'll see. I want to try to build the Weasley's house at some point, and maybe the dollhouse of my dreams - it's a tall four story building with an art gallery, a cafe, a library, a ballroom, and a theatre. I think it would be amazing! But so complicated and time-consuming!

I made chicken noodle soup today - I put in chives, parsley, garlic, and salt - but I didn't put in enough so I'm going to add some more before I eat the leftovers. I can't stand something that tastes so watery. Ugh. :) I keep forgetting that noodles require MUCH more salt than I originally think is necessary. :p The chicken wasn't too bad, though, probably because I covered it in garlic powder before cooking it. I do love me some garlic. Guess I'm not a vampire after all. :p

For some reason, I like watching Will & Grace. I do think that eventually I'll be in a place where I can minister to the homosexual community. They make me laugh but they break my heart at the same time. They're great people, but broken. They have a special place in my heart. Anyway - I watched 2 episodes of W&G last night and thought about that for a while.

  4. Yeah, apparating is cool but...I like a lovely little staircase. I'm thinking spiral right now, maybe they could slide up and down the pole? :p We'll see - that spiral staircase may be too much for my amateur furniturist's hands!!!
