Kaitlin's New "Look" for Spring/Summer 2009

So, the other day, I woke up and decided that I liked the pink/orange combo (especially plaid) and that was going to be the base of my spring/summer wardrobe.

Yes.

I wake up w/ random thoughts like that in my head.

Yesterday's was "You know, I bet that bobbin wasn't working because I was threading it through the needle..." (Unfortunately I still can't figure out what's wrong - maybe the tension?)

anyway -

I got rid of a ton of clothes when I moved out of the Bishop house and therefore I have the bare essentials. Literally. As in - 3 t-shirts, 3 long sleeve shirts, 3 pair of jeans and 2 sweatshirts. That's about it, except for some odds and ends. :P

So, I began thinking about what I needed/wanted, especially for this summer when things are going to be EXTREMELY muggy and disgusting.

I have decided that I want to wear things that are cute, dressy, and comfortable.

I wish Tim Gunn's Guide to Style showed up on my TV (sigh, we have no cable...) because I like what he has to say about the essentials of a woman's wardrobe. He and I might disagree on a few things (I don't want an outfit that I can just "run to the store in"), but for the most part, he's got a solid list.

My list for this summer is:

2 pair of dressy shoes (one white, one black)
1 pair of comfortable shoes (grey)
1 pair of flip-flops (brown)

4-5 skirts of varying lengths (green, orange, pink, cream, brown)

2-3 pair of pants (1 pair jeans, 1 pair black dressy pants, 1 pair green/brown capris)

6-7 shirts w/ varying sleeve lengths (preferably collared, same colors as above, along with purple and black)

2-3 t-shirts (similar to colors above)

1-2 light sweaters

1 modest bathing suit (tank w/ shorts)

1 dress (preferably w/ colors listed above)

3-4 hats (I have one big Audrey Hepburn-esque hat - a big, floppy, rose-colored one)

1-2 pair of gloves (I have one pair of white lace fingerless gloves)

2-3 ties that will match above colors

And I believe that's all...besides accessories, most of which I either have or will be making...

I also intend to invest in some new nail polish (the one girly thing I like), some makeup (I'm running out of purple eyeshadow & mascara, the two makeup-y things I'll actually wear), and a new haircut...coming once Spring hits.

I'm being incredibly girly but...I don't know, I need a change. I'm tired of wearing 4-year-old clothes that don't fit and I have a little extra money from my tax return...this is also a good step towards getting a new wardrobe for when I'm looking for a new job this summer - I have a job for the summer but I'm not sure what I'm doing in the fall.

Anyway - I'll be shopping around the thrift stores for fun things to wear so if you want to come, let me know. :)

I want to decorate a hat now - between watching Howl's Moving Castle and talking to some friends about how characters in Jane Austen books make their own hats...I have a million hats but I bet I could find a cheap boring one and spice it up...

ALSO, (this is more exciting, for those of you who have suffered through this incredibly girly post) - Ruth, Gina, and I are entering the Runaway Runway show with 2 outfits, one of which will be modeled by Kirsten! (One is going to be modeled by me - eek!) We started working on the tops of the dresses (we're doing a short dress and a long dress) last night. :)

I'm also on the lookout for another dollhouse kit - I've had so much fun, but I'm nearing the end (another month or so?) of the Orchid bash and I would like to try my hand at something else. I'm looking for a cheap kit to pick up, maybe at Hobby Lobby this weekend.

Sorry if any guys read this...for some reason, I just got really excited about fashion in the last two weeks and it kind of exploded into a girly craze...weird.
