Inspiration

In lieu of doing actual writing at the moment (since I'm struggling through some background "WHY???" questions), I've decided to show you some of my favorite movies and their beautiful art. Movies, books, music, and art all inspire me, but the combination of story, image, words, and music all together holds a special magic.

So here are the movies that move me because of their music, color, art, and message. I've kept it to 10 kids' movies since my favorite movie list is a million miles long. Click on each picture to see a bigger version...so gorgeous!

10. Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs - Stu was skeptical but he could not stop laughing throughout this entire movie. It's a great movie about doing what you're meant to do and being who you really are.

9. Treasure Planet - seriously, this is one of the coolest (and least well known) Disney movies. The score alone is spectacular, and ships + space = EPIC.

8. Ratatouille - one of Pixar's best films...all about being an artiste!

7. Coraline - spooky, weird, and wonderful...right down to her blue hair! This is one instance in which I liked the movie better than the book. *GASP*

6. Howl's Moving Castle - SERIOUSLY. Cannot get enough of this movie! I am a fan of talented voice casts - Christian Bale voices one of my favorite characters in this story! Also based on a book, Hayao Miyazaki's adaptation is brilliant. The music by Joe Hisaishi is too.

5. How to Train Your Dragon - Horatio Hiccup III and his dragon are ADORABLE. The score by John Powell is phenomenal, and the poster...breath-taking.

4. The Tale of Desperaux - hardcore Kate DiCamillo fans seem to be disappointed in the movie, but why?? I deeply love the book, but I understood that the film would be a re-interpretation, and I have to say, I was surprised by how much I loved it. Dustin Hoffman, Matthew Broderick, and Emma Watson were perfect, and who couldn't help but love this brave little mouse?

3. Despicable Me - Gru's reformation during this story is heart-warming and hilarious. It's charming!

2. Meet the Robinsons - LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this movie. I cannot get over how quirky this movie is. It's a wee bit scary at times, really confusing most of the time, and perfectly wonderful every minute.

1. Beauty & the Beast - FAVORITE MOVIE EVER. Need I say more?

I've also realized that all of these movies together tie in a theme...they all have something to do with acceptance - being accepted, accepting what life brings you, etc.

...interesting.
