I was on Pinterest today, browsing, when I came across an 80's/90's board full of old toys, movies, technology, clothing...everything I remember from growing up in the 90's (and things I don't remember, like certain TV shows I never watched -- Clarissa Explains It All, Boy Meets World, etc.). I scrolled through it recognizing things here and there (a warm fuzzy feeling enveloping me) and then BOOM.
There it was.
The little toy dog I'd been missing for twenty years.
I'd never seen any others like it, I didn't know what it was called, and the only things I could remember was that it had curly hair and I loved it.
I quickly did a google search and found exactly which pup I'd had and even found some for sale on Ebay (for $15).
Talk about a strong yearning for some of my childhood back!
Which then got me searching for my favorite toys:
Littlest Pet Shop (the Perky Puppy, the monkey, the ducks and the lizard, particularly)
My Little Pony (Sweet Lily and Buzzer being the only two I have left -- my favorites)
it was wild to see my childhood brought so close (and yet so far...some of my toys are in storage and some I lost over the years, and they don't seem to be for sale on Amazon or Ebay).
And dangit, I want my childhood back!
I'm tempted to ask for the ones for sale for Christmas.
To hold those beautiful toys (they ARE beautiful -- much prettier than the toys out now) in my hands and remember what it was like to be 5...
...is this why people collect things? Do we want to re-claim our childhood by purchasing the things we had back then? It's a weird feeling.
Almost like time-travel. If I could go back...
What? What am I looking for?
