Well, I realized that we didn't have anything to sweeten the juice this morning, so Stu is just skipping breakfast. Today is Burger Day in the caf so he's eating that for lunch. We were hoping to cash a check and juice for dinner, but I don't think we'll make it in time.
I ate an onion bagel for breakfast, but I did make my regular smoothie for lunch and some air-popped corn for a snack.
Tonight I'm probably going to eat one of my freezer meals, which I did last night - it worked beautifully. (The squash, onions & mushroom mix) I seasoned it with pepper, onion salt, garlic, & thyme. Too much garlic, but it's ok...garlic is good for me, right??
I might make couscous to go with it tonight.
This is good prep for next week, though. We are taking our juicer to my mom's but we will also be eating Thanksgiving dinner. So we need to eat a couple good meals here and there so we're not horribly sick next week. :P
Sparkpeople.com is really helpful for me during this process -- although apparently today I'm way below what I should be eating in every aspect. :/ I may have to eat a few eggs or a potato or something to get enough calories -- I'm under 1000 today which is NOT good. It's nice that I can see what I need so that I won't feel bad about eating a few more bites of something.
It also keeps track of my water - I'm averaging about 24oz/day right now. I know, not great. I'll keep working on it.
I'm walking more and keeping track of it as well. So that's a bonus.
I need some quiet time though - I'm taking some vacation days next week but that's really going to get taken up by family stuff. Hopefully I'll have some of the weekend to recuperate before Finals Season gets going.
I need to do some serious thinking and praying about the Aspirant process and my continuing saga of finding a mentor (something I've been thinking about/praying about for...let's see...almost a year??). I have someone in mind but they're incredibly busy and I'm not sure I should add one more thing to their plate.
The other thing I need to think about is what I am doing with my life right now. Should I learn some monologues and audition for a play? Should I try to find some free dance things to attend? Should I concentrate on trying to get something published in the next few years?
Who knows.
But for now, I'm enjoying NaNoWriMo and eating healthy. Baby steps.
I'm wrestling with the same, "What do I do NOW" questions. Do I apply to library school? Do I take the indexing course and get clients and wait on library school? Do I focus on gardening around our house? Do I just focus on getting better, or will doing those things HELP me get better because I'll be focusing outward?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad juicing is going well. I hope you get enough calories and that T-Day is wonderful, rather than something that makes you sick. I'm juicing a beet today, which apparently helps in liver detox...so I also need to drink lots of water with it...
By the way, I don't know if you like them, but Kroger and Publix has Pomegranates on sale for $2.00. I just made the most amazing smoothie with the seeds of one pomegranate, a cup of berries from a froze fruit triple berry medley (raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries), lemon juice and two spoonfuls of yogurt. It. Is. Incredible. There's also coupons on the POM Wonderful site, so you can get a Pomegranate for a dollar. The only difficulty is that Pomegranates are hard to take apart.
ReplyDeleteGina,
ReplyDeleteI hope we can figure out what we need to do...I know I need to take steps, but what's the first one supposed to be?! :P I think this is why I need a mentor.
I got some beets to juice as well, they're supposed to be one of the main staples for our juice fast. :) I like pomegranates, but there was some concern over which fruits are not good for people with high blood pressure (apparently grapefruits are a BIG no-no because they react to blood pressure medicine poorly), so I'm not sure if they're on the list or not. They're on my "To Research" list because I LOVE pomegranates. Thanks for the info on the coupon/sale!!
The smoothie sounds DELICIOUS. Perfect breakfast!
I loved your post about Schnapps. I knew a cat that was completely anti-social (coming from an abused past) and she was put on anti-depressants and turned out to be a friendly (not quite cuddly), well-adjusted cat. It really works and it's better for the cat, of course, since it isn't being bounced from shelter to house and back again. Yay for you guys for doing the best thing for Schnapps.
I think Parker should be on anti-depressants but there was no way we could afford them. She is a lot better now, of course, since Stu's parents are home all the time. She still sheds a crap-ton though, which could be a sign of anxiety. I think over time she'll become calmer as she lives longer with Stu's parents. One can hope. :)
