February Blues

Hey everybody -

No, I'm not really blue...but I'd love to write a wintery rag-time piece called "February Blues." I think it would be cool.

Well, I put the Dormer windows on the dollhouse and I'm figuring out how I want the porch to look. I have found that although I can follow instructions...I really do prefer doing things my own way. Therefore, my dollhouse will NOT have froo-froo gingerbread or lacy little wooden add-ons. Straight, simple lines, white walls with dark stained floors/beams. The two rooms I'm adding are going to look cool, I think. One's going to have a stone floor and one has a wood floor (stained dark)...

I think making this dollhouse is what's holding my sanity together. There is so much to process this semester...work, school, keeping a house semi-clean, etc...there's just so much to do and I love sitting down to an activity where my brain can rest and my hands can take over. I can lay a wood floor (in miniature) and stain it, I can sand and glue things together, I can put all the little puzzle pieces together and create something beautiful. Thank goodness for hobbies.

I started cross-stitching again this morning. Occasionally I come back to cross-stitching when I need a hobby that's easy to carry around. One time I had the idea to do little bitty cross stitch 'hangings' of princesses - I finished a Snow White one but Belle is still incomplete. Right now I'm working on a crest to go in the dollhouse (of course). I made a shield shape and then I'm going to put in the Hogwarts colors for each house and then a big H in the middle. It'll hang somewhere in the house. Hopefully, it will look cool!

I'm working on my Harry Potter FDS...I'm halfway through Order of the Phoenix so I've got 2 more books to get through after this and write a paper! I'm looking forward to it. Next month I have an art project due, so no reading or watching HP but I do get to plan out Snape costumes...although, silly man, he always wore black apparently! I'm going to draw him at different ages though since the movies have to show that too.

I've figured out why I hate Order of the Phoenix so much: the main reason is that I HATE Umbridge. The most hateful person on earth...every time I read OOTP I want to rip it to pieces. Ugh. I've never hated a character more. :) I also don't really like Cho Chang so she and Harry just annoy me. :) But other than that, I'd forgotten how good it is. The Weasleys really come into their own (Weasleys' Wizarding Wheezes/Skiving Snackboxes, Ron becomes a Quidditch team member) and the Department of Mysteries part is awesome...

Anyway...I feel like writing something other than a blogpost...a story or poem...but I feel like I should be doing homework. So back to reading OOTP. Oh, the tragic-ness of homework...MUAHAHAHA.

Yay Harry Potter FDS. And Dr. Dan. :)
